DSA 2026 workshop will take place at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda (23-24 July 2026). As part of the conference program, we invite submissions to a workshop on: Foundational and Practical Data Science in the Age of Generative AI.
This workshop aims to explore how core data science principles, machine learning foundations, and modern Generative AI techniques can be combined to design robust, scalable, and impactful solutions for African challenges.
Thematic Axes (Non-Exhaustive)
- Foundational Data Science and Machine Learning
- Generative AI and African Language Models
- Data Science applications, including AI/DS for Climate, Healthcare, Agriculture, and Environmental Risks
- AI/DS in Education and Finance
- Ethical AI and Cybersecurity
- Data Governance
(High-quality submissions outside these axes but aligned with the workshop theme are encouraged.)
Submission Guidelines
- Submission platform: Papers must be submitted via OpenReview
- Paper types accepted:
- Research papers
- Industry experience papers
- Work-in-progress
- Length: No more than 5 pages (including references)
- Format: Standard conference paper format (details provided on OpenReview)
Review Process and Presentation Format
- All submissions will undergo peer review by the workshop Program Committee.
- Accepted papers will be presented either as:
- Oral presentations, or
- Poster presentations
- The assignment to oral or poster sessions will be determined by the Program Committee, based on quality, relevance, and program balance.
